Support Worker
Part Time (18.75 hours per week)

Temporary - this position is available to 31st May 2018, with the possibility of an extension.
Salary starts at £16,523 (£8261.50 part time) to £17,000 pro rata rising to £18,500 pro rata through performance plus Sleep In Shifts of £35.00.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring Support Worker like you (known internally by us as Support Worker - Level 2) to join our service which provides support to a cluster of services comprising of 5 Supported Housing Services, a Respite Service, a Short Stay Service and a Community Recovery Service. We support adults who have a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental health conditions, who may also have substance misuse issues and/or a mild learning disability.

We work very closely with the Mental Health Integrated Delivery Teams, Home Treatment Team, Adult Social Care Services, Acute Services, Forensic Services & other key agencies. All of the above services have access to an out of hours on call system to support colleagues/ customers in the event of an emergency.

As an experienced Support Worker, you'll help change lives for the better by assisting in delivering identified tasks based upon customers' individual needs and aspirations, as identified within their personal support plans. You'll liaise with external agencies and work closely with our Senior Support Workers too in assessing and engaging support for our customers. Together you will really make a difference, empowering our customers to develop the independent living skills they need to successfully move on with a positive future.

It's really important to us that you have time to what you are really care about; changing customers lives for the better. So to free up your time, you'll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you don't have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go. You'll also be paid between customers visits and for your mileage too.

We want someone like you, with the passion and motivation for helping vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. To flourish in the role, you'll have a practical understanding of safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality and support plans. You'll be great at managing your own time, working on your own initiative, have strong communication skills and be able to positively influence people from all different backgrounds. It's important to us that you have the compassion and empathy to work with vulnerable people in a housing related social care setting and we do need you to also have good IT skills too.

We'll be impressed if you have knowledge of this sector, our customer group and experience of working with hard to reach customers, but don't worry as we'll also develop your skills in this too.

As we provide 24-hour support to our customers, you'll work on a rota basis and take your turn working evening, sleep in shifts, weekends and bank holidays. There is an expectation that collegaues will work across a variety of services depending upon customer and service requirements.

If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we'll pay for.
